Celebrating Religious Festivals

CPSS recognizes that religious minorities in Pakistan face tremendous pressures, discrimination and marginalization that take an enormous social and psychological toll on individuals and groups. In order to show support, solidarity and gratitude to the religious minorities of the country, CPSS has a long history of celebrating Christmas and Easter with the Christian community. In honor of the extremely marginalized Hindu community of Punjab, CPSS decided to start celebrating Raksha Bandhan. The event was inaugurated by the Minister for Human Rights and people from all walks of life attended in large numbers. Celebrating Hindu festivals in Pakistan is a logistical nightmare with serious security concerns. It was a challenge to obtain a venue, and CPSS is grateful to Loyla Hall for extending  the use of their premises for this event.
