REMEMBERING HIROSHIMA

Candle light vigil to remember the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The United States dropped the nuclear bomb on Japan during World War II that killed up to 166,000 people with adverse effects to last years.

The terrible tragedy that befell Japan lead to their resolve for nuclear non-proliferation. Pakistan ought to learn a lesson and commit to nuclear disarmament. In a climate of social and political unrest with poverty, unemployment, illiteracy plaguing the country, Pakistan is certainly in no position to support a nuclear program that poses a threat to world peace, our own security and is devastating for the environment.

It is time we set our priorities right and focus on the progress and prosperity of our nation and the well-being of its people. This is no time for silence. In the words of Howard Zinn, “You can’t be neutral on a moving train.” We must all join hands to rid the country and the planet of of the most destructive creation of all times!

Join us this Saturday in front of the Punjab Assembly. Spread the word.Let us make a show of our strength as peace-loving citizens of Pakistan.
