WORKSHOP – ALTERNATIVES TO VIOLENCE
Time: March 19, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Location: Institute for Peace and Secular Studies
This is a pre-emptive workshop on peacebuilding, designed for youth to promote peace learning through participation in team activities, fun games and self-reflections
General Objectives:
• Peacebuilding as a life skill for home, learning place, workplace and community
• Provoking reflections on alternative peaceful behaviour
• Building a network of people, supporting the idea of peace
• Restoring confidence to act peacefully
Experience during the workshop: (process-oriented approach)
• Feeling of comfort, safety and self respect
• Feeling of empowerment to adopt alternative behaviours
Expected learning outcomes: (result- oriented approach)
• Improvement in active listening skills
• Improvement in trust building skills
• Ability to analyse the conflict situations
• Ability to reflect on self-behaviour
• Empowerment to choose peaceful behaviour
• Ability to advocate the alternatives to violence
